What journalists should do about Facebook Graph Search
Facebook just announced that they’re launching a new search engine to help people find people and data on Facebook. Facebook Journalism Program Manager Vadim Lavrusik has a helpful post on how journalists can use it by finding sources and being found.
However, Graph Search is currently only in limited beta. Here’s what you can do today:
- Get in line: Facebook’s opened up a wait list.
- Consider turning on Facebook Subscribe (if you haven’t already): People can subscribe (it’s like a Twitter follow) to you directly from the graph search page.
- Double check all your Facebook privacy settings: Nothing is changing as to what’s public, but publicly shared Facebook moments you’d rather forget will be easier for others to find.
- Add your Facebook profile to your Muck Rack Journalist Profile: It’s increasingly important journalists are on multiple social media platforms, so list all your profiles in Muck Rack so journalists and readers can find you.
